What is Parfum?

We've all had the heartbreaking moment of spritzing ourselves with our favourite fragrance only for it to last just as long as it takes to walk out the front door. So why do they disappear and fade so fast? Let's take a look.

There are many different terms thrown around for personal fragrance, Eau de Parfum this and cologne that, so we thought we'd simplify this a little bit to show you why Isle of Avalon parfum or perfume is as special as it is.

Now these words do mean something, they're not just fancy French words thrown around to give the delusion of grandeur, they tell us how strong the fragrance is and therefore is ability to stay on your skin.

Isle of Avalon use Parfum, which uses the highest concentration of oil. Typically greater than 20%, and the higher the concentration the longer it will last, time however will very much depend on the individual but a parfum will generally last from 8-10 hours.

Next up is Eau de Parfum, typically between 15-20% concentration. It's lower concentration than parfum indicates that it will have a lower staying power on your skin, usually around 4-5 hours before needing a reapplication.

Next we have Eau de Toilette and Eau de Cologne, respectively containing approximately 10% and 5% oil. the staying power here is far lower than parfum and will only last a few hours.

Isle of Avalon Parfum (or perfume) uses a significant concentration of oil to provide a long lasting olfactory fragrance. Not only does it last longer, but as there's a greater oil to alcohol ratio, it doesn't dry your skin as lower concentration fragrances would.

We have used parfum from day 1 and we will continue to do so not just because it sounds better, but because it's a better product for you, our customer.

We'd love to know what you think of the perfumes too, especially if there are fragrances you love that you'd like to see from us. Let us know and thanks for reading.
