From first ideas to where we are now

What began as an interest in making has developed into a considered approach—shaped by experience, and grounded in how we work every day.

A bit on us

The beginning

The brand began during the lockdowns of the Covid pandemic.

Spending more time at home, there was always a candle burning. Over time, a collection of empty glass vessels built up, recyclable, but ultimately discarded.

It prompted a simple question: rather than replacing the entire product, why not just replace the wax?

This led to early experimentation with making candles ourselves.

Focusing on sustainability and reuse, we began developing a system of refillable candles, designed so the vessel could remain, and only the wax would be replaced.

Through repeated testing, the first collection took shape: a range of candles built around refillable, hand-made wax inserts

Early development

Turning point

In early 2022, redundancy provided the opportunity to take the project further.

What began as experimentation became a more focused pursuit, developing Avalon into a dedicated, in-house brand.

Growth

Since launching, the response has been consistently encouraging.

The collection has been stocked in stores across Brighton and London, featured in British Vogue, and recognised with industry awards. We now also supply a growing number of venues and hotels, developing products suited to both retail and commercial spaces.

Expanding the range

As the brand has developed, so has the collection.

Alongside home fragrance, we have introduced personal fragrance, creating parfum designed with the same focus on balance, longevity, and everyday wear.

We continue to explore new ways of refining both product and presentation, incorporating techniques such as 3D printing to develop and elevate our designs.

Where we are now

Today, all products are developed and produced in our Brighton boutique.

Working in small batches allows us to maintain a considered approach, refining each formulation with attention to detail at every stage.

To be continued…

While we’ve achieved a great deal, we still consider this the beginning.

Our approach remains the same, developing products in-house, designing for refill, and creating fragrance to be worn often and returned to over time.
